Goa Beaches

Anjuna Beach, Goa

Anjuna Beach is popularly known as the freak capital of the world, for its claimed popularity of Trance Parties and the Hippies who tried to synthesize the spiritual traditions of the East and the art, ideas and the music of the West.

Arambol Beach, Goa

Arambol is along the Goa border with its fresh water lagoon. Due to its isolation, some tourists has been unable to reach this beach. It is the 16-km-long sea beach. The main beach has adequate body surfing and there are several attractive bays a short walk to the north.

Baga Beach, Goa

Baga is a small but perfect beach located between its two more famous cousins, Colva on one side and Calangute on the other. It is a far better place to enjoy some restful moments if you don’t like the hustle and bustle of Colva or Calangute.

Benaulim Beach, Goa

According to Hindu mythology, Benaulim is the place where the arrow of Lord Parsurama landed when he created the state of Goa. Known in Sanskrit as Banali, it was changed to Benaulim by the Portuguese.

Bogmalo Majorda, Goa

Bogmalo beach is broad, flat and open. It is among the least heavily used beaches. Cluster of small beach shack restaurants and occasional fishing villages, scattered under the coconut palm gives Bogmalo a unique look.

Calangute Baga, Goa

On the shores of the Arabian Sea, under the shade of palm trees, bathes the Queen of Beaches-Calangute. Calangute seems to be a distortion of the local vernacular word -'Koli-gutti', which means land of fishermen. Some people connect it with Kalyangutti.

Colva Beach, Goa

With 20 km of virgin white sands, palm fringed, and sun drenched beaches, Colva is the most loved beach for Goans. Colva beach is pride of Salcette and the only rival to Calangute by its scenic splendour.

Dona Paula Beach, Goa

Named after the Dona Paula de Menzes, daughter of a viceroy (in colonial India), the Dona Paula beach offers an opportunity to the tourists to have a sunbath and buy cheap seaside goods from local vendors.

Palolem Beach, Goa

Palolem beach in Goa is situated 2km west of Chaudi. Goa Palolem beach is one of the most ideal beaches in this Indian state of Goa. It has a crescent shaped bay lined with swaying coconut palms hemmed by a pair of rocky crags.

Vagator Chapora, Goa

The soft white sands, the black lava rocks, the coconut palms, the lush green landscape, nature playing its own music, and the sea turning from aquamarine to emerald green—Vagator and Chapora, overlooked by the 500-year-old Portuguese fort, leaves each visitor awestruck.

Varca Cavelossim Mabor, Goa

Varca, Cavelossim, and Mabor are the most beautiful beaches south of Benaulim. These beaches are much cleaner and quieter than most of the famous beaches of Goa. There are numerous beach shacks offering a variety of Goan dishes and seafood at reasonable prices. There are several food joints around Dona Sylvia where you can get entire package of good food, good drink, nice service, and a pleasant service in quite reasonable rates. There are facilities for Dolphin watching at Betty's Place as well as boat trips for Dolphin watching up river Sal.Transportation.
